C-TAC’s Marisette Hasan to Receive Palmetto Gold Award for Nursing Excellence
C-TAC’s Vice President of Community Action and Policy, Marisette Hasan, will be recognized for excellence in nursing practice and commitment to the nursing profession by Palmetto Gold at their annual gala on April 27 in Columbia, SC.
Each year, nurses are selected for Palmetto Gold through a nomination and selection process that includes nurses from across South Carolina in a variety of practice settings. Each recipient promotes and advances the nursing profession in a positive way; displays exceptional caring and commitment to patients, families, student nurses and colleagues; demonstrates leadership; assists others in growth and development; and promotes the profession of nursing through civic and community activities.
Palmetto Gold supports the future of nursing by using proceeds from the gala to provide a nursing scholarship to each registered nurse undergraduate program in South Carolina. Palmetto Gold began in 2002 when a coalition of nurse leaders in South Carolina formed a statewide nursing recognition program that would showcase the valuable contributions nurses make to patient care and would raise money to provide scholarships.
C-TAC and the American Heart Association (AHA) launched the “Improving Quality of Life for People with Heart Failure through Integration of Palliative Care Services” initiative in 2023, bringing together a national clinical advisory council, state coalitions, health systems, and health plans in Alabama, California, Hawai’i, and Louisiana to develop a standardized palliative care referral pathway for people with heart failure….
The Humana Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Humana, Inc. based in Louisville, KY, recently awarded C-TAC a three-year grant to advance its regional health equity mission to support seniors by creating emotional connectedness and healthy lives. C-TAC will build on its foundational work in Louisville to identify and deploy trusted community leaders to connect seniors in underserved communities to community…

C-TAC hosted a virtual mixer on September 20 focusing on the needs and well-being of caregivers for people with serious illness. Bill Novelli, co-founder, and co-board chair of C-TAC, opened the mixer by stating, “When you look at the (C-TAC) mission statement, there is no part of it that is more important than caregiving.”
