National Survey Trends in Telehealth Use in 2021: Disparities in Utilization and Audio vs. Video Services
Census Bureau shows a gradual decline in telehealth utilization among adults and children between April and October 2021. They found disparities in utilization of telehealth services including the use of video vs. audio modalities along dimensions including race and ethnicity, age, education, income, and health insurance. Investments in internet access, video-enabled devices, and culturally competent care are needed to ensure equitable use of telehealth services.
