Jeanne M. Chirico, MPA, serves as the President and CEO of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State (HPCANYS). With a steadfast commitment to advancing the availability and accessibility of high-quality serious illness and end-of-life care in New York State, Jeanne collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders to champion this vital cause. With over three decades of dedicated service in the field, Jeanne previously held the role of Vice President at Rochester Regional Health’s Lifetime Care, Home Care, and Hospice, where she provided strategic leadership throughout the Finger Lakes Region. Notably, she spearheaded the development of a pioneering pediatric palliative care program in Upstate New York, and was a valued member of the HPCANYS Board of Trustees.
A sought-after speaker, Jeanne has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences on pivotal topics such as bio-ethical issues in end-of-life care, advancing health equity in hospice and palliative care, Advance Care Planning, and strategic hospice and palliative care leadership. Jeanne currently serves as a member of the MOLST statewide implementation team in New York and is co-chair of the Committee on Legislation.
Jeanne advises national trade associations in their policy efforts toward hospice and palliative care innovation and the impact of the regulatory framework and initiatives for the hospice benefit. She was honored by being named on the Health Care Power 100 list by City and State New York for leading the unprecedented legislative achievements of the Association, which have resulted in laws creating a statewide Advance Care Planning campaign and the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care Access and Quality at the New York State Department of Health.
