Hello everyone, my name is Kyle Quigley. I am currently a rising senior at James Madison University in Virginia. I am currently a health service administration major with a minor in business and Asian studies. Throughout my life, I have lived in China, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the USA. My personal favorite is China its almost inexplicable but I have a very strong affinity for Beijing in particular. My personal hobbies would be participating/watching sports, eating tasty food, and traveling.
What made C-TAC stand out as an organization?
I ultimately knew I was determined to pursue my passion this summer and find an internship position within the health services industry. And while there were other viable opportunities C-TAC stood out for a multitude of reasons. I am very interested in primary care/public health and hope to learn and grow throughout this opportunity. Additionally, C-TAC focuses on underserved and marginalized communities. These communities can be overlooked, which foreshadows the importance of C-TAC.
What excites me the most about this internship?
I think the most exciting aspect of this internship would be the opportunity for skill development within the field of health services. I am excited to acquire new knowledge through listening in on meetings/calls, or by getting more hands-on and communicating with patients or representatives from different organizations. I hope through training and developing new skills I can be the most valuable version of myself in the workforce.
What experiences have I had within the health industry?
My first experience with hands-on work within the health industry was my service trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. In Hanoi, we worked with the Blue Dragon organization known for its work with human trafficking. This experience I will forever value and point to as my reason for interest in public health. My most recent experience comes from my work with USAID in Jakarta. Working in the USAID office was an enriching experience that taught me much more about the administrative side of work in sorting databases/paper files.
What motivates me?
I am intrinsically motivated, largely by things that peak my interest and experiences that can develop me into a better person/member of society. I have learned the deep fulfillment that can come from a job helping others. I am also motivated when it comes to meeting personal goals/achievements. I find the competition with myself to do better can be exciting at times.
