Collaboration and Shared Decision-Making Between Patients and Clinicians in Preventive Health Care Decisions and US Preventive Services Task Force Recommendations

CTAC + Mar 29, 2022

This article affirms the Task Force’s view that patients have the right to be informed and involved in decisions about their preventive care. The article advocates for shared decision-making, an approach in which patients and clinicians make health decisions together, which may be useful for reducing health inequities. The article contains a call for more evidence to determine if shared decision-making reduces inequities and to explore new strategies that can help primary care clinicians find the time for these preventive care discussions.
