C-TAC member, Healthsperien, released its comprehensive summary of the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and the Treasury (collectively, the Departments) final rules implementing the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). The final rules amend certain provisions of the existing MHPAEA regulations and add new regulations to set forth content requirements and timeframes for responding to requests for nonquantitative treatment limitation (NQTL) comparative analyses required under MHPAEA, as amended by the Consolidated Appropriations Act. The final rules reflect, and address comments received during the public comment period for the proposed rules that were published on August 3, 2023. Each stakeholder group in the healthcare landscape, including health plans, providers and provider groups, patients and patient advocates, and behavioral health advocates should consider various factors as they navigate the evolving regulatory environment.
