Member Spotlight – Grief Dialogues

CTAC + Mar 03, 2023

Grief Dialogues was founded in 2016 by Elizabeth Coplan as a theatrical expression opening new conversations between grievers, those with terminal and chronic illness, and the health care providers who serve them.

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Grief Dialogues, is dedicated to erasing the stigma surrounding death and encouraging discussions about dying, death, and grief that create a healthier life and society.

Grief is an incredibly intense, all-consuming feeling, and feeling drives art. Art in turns gives the invisible, hard to articulate inner experience, a tangible physical presence. In 2019 Coplan joined forces with Virginia Mason Palliative Care Program to create an evening of short plays followed by a moderated discussion. As COVID-19 developed, Grief Dialogues noticed a massive increase in demand for caregivers and medical providers. Grief Dialogues transitioned their performances to online platforms to provide our content in a safe and accessible way. Now, Grief Dialogues has blossomed into a massive community conversation about all things death, dying, and grief-related.

Grief Dialogues recognizes the important work that C-TAC and its members bring to the healthcare industry. As our organization serves grievers and caretakers, becoming a member of C-TAC helps us understand more of the legal components involved in the end of life space.

Grief Dialogues appreciates the opportunity to be a part of this compassionate coalition.
