Randy Curtis, MD | Doctor-Turned-Patient

CTAC + May 31, 2022

Dr. Randy Curtis is a giant in the field of palliative care who has changed the lives of his colleagues, his patients and their families. Now the physician is a patient, having recently been diagnosed with bulbar ALS, a form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which affects speech and swallowing. For Randy, this is especially ironic since he “talks for a living.” He is now focusing his energies preparing the Cambia Palliative Center of Excellence for the future. For him, the organization’s mission has become personal. As its director, he sees his legacy as the “people he’s mentored and touched in some way” and hopes they will pay it forward, influencing and mentoring others.

Like Dr. Curtis and the doctors and families he’s touched, C-TAC has long been an outspoken advocate for palliative care. Speak up and support our work for patients, families and caregivers. Learn more here.
