C-TAC is excited to welcome Sydney Goldman to our team as a Partnerships and Programs Intern. She is originally from Los Angeles, CA and is now a junior at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. What initially interested you in C-TAC?
I was initially interested in C-TAC because I had the opportunity to learn about an aspect of public health, I really knew nothing about. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many internships especially in the public health field were lost, so I decided it would be a great opportunity to 1) better understand the world of public health at the grassroots levels and 2) learn how public-health organizations are operating in these unprecedented times.
What are three things you want to learn in your time here?
There are all sorts of things I want to learn in my time here, so it is really hard to narrow it down to three, but most broadly, I want to gain a better understanding of the field and the nuances that come with advanced care and serious illness. I would love to learn more about the different interconnected nature, and growth, between different state coalitions. Another thing I am wanting to learn is the different aspects of the policy advocacy work.
What are you most looking forward to this internship with C-TAC?
I am really looking forward to just understanding a whole subsection of public health that I have not learned much about. Aging and serious illness are often ‘taboo’ topics, so expanding the conversation and gaining more knowledge is always my goal. In the current world, opportunities like this are few and far between so I am really excited to maximize this opportunity.
What is something everything should know about you?
One thing that everyone should know about me is that I still get to play softball even as a college student. If I am not doing schoolwork or completing my C-TAC work, I am on the softball field. I play for both the Brandeis softball team and the Israel National softball team.
