Jennifer Allen, Chief of the Section of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and medical director of OACIS (Optimizing Advanced Complex Illness Support)/Palliative Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network, a 2014 Circle of Life Award recipient. The program includes an inpatient consult service, a nationally recognized home-based service, and an office-based practice. Originally trained in Internal Medicine, Dr. Allen spent the first few years of her career in hospitalist medicine, then developed a palliative medicine program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Since joining Lehigh Valley Health Network, she has served as a palliative care consultant, educator, HPM fellowship director, advance care planning and Serious Illness Collaborative lead. She is boarded in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and has co-authored publications on palliative care in the ICU.
